Low Temperature Separation (LTS)
Low temperature separation technology is used to treat the gas for reducing the hydrocarbon dew point or hydrocarbon dew point together with water dew point.
In the process simulation the necessary cooling temperature is designed depending on gas composition and dew point requirements. If water is still in the inlet gas an antifreeze fluid like methanol or MEG has to be injected and will be separated together with the water and hydrocarbons from the gas flow. To cool down the gas a high pressure drop in the system and the utilization of the Joule Thompson effect will reduce the energy costs for external colling significantly.
